Kevin Hagan White (1929-2012), Boston’s mayor from 1968-1984, is positioned between Boston City Hall and Faneuil Hall on Congress and North Streets.

Throughout its illustrious history, Faneuil Hall has welcomed hundreds of Irish and Irish-American leaders to speak, from Ireland, including Michael Davitt, Charles Stuart Parnell, Hanna Sheehy-Skeffington, Nora Connolly O’Brien and President Michael D. Higgins.

The beautiful Rose Kennedy Rose Garden is the first stop along the Boston Irish Heritage Trail. It was dedicated on July 20, 1987 to President John F. Kennedy’s mother Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy (1890-1995) and to all mothers who lost a son or daughter in World War II.
